ANTHONY GOMES DEMOS 3D PRINTED
GUITAR FOR BASF AT AMUG CONFERENCE
April 26, 2018
Anthony performed and demoed the world's first high quality 3D-Printed guitar for the BASF corporation at this year's AMUG Conference in St. Louis.
The design of the instrument itself tells the story of 3D-Printing through a process called Laser Sintering: the upper half of the guitar body is shaped like the molecular structure of polyamides, which is the material the guitar is made of. Surrounding this is a crystalline structure, which represents part of the process of laser sintering; the material takes crystalline form during the production process. The upper right hand part of the body represents layers, as the production process is a layer-by-layer additive manufacturing process. And lastly the bottom half of the guitar represents the finished object.
The guitar was assembled and quality controlled by renowned guitar builder Ritter.
